About
With a filmmaking legacy spanning over seventy years, Xantus Film LTD. is an independent boutique production company based in Transylvania.
With a special focus on endangered wildlife and delicate ecosystem alike, the company specializes in high-quality, character-driven productions that feature relevant, distinctive, and artistic content, covering stories from more than 60 countries across all seven continents—including Antarctica.
By shedding light on underrepresented communities and overlooked historical events, we are committed to creating impactful cross-border stories. Our focus is on compelling characters and urgent global issues to change how people connect with the natural world, promote understanding and empathy.
Our work highlights critical social justice and sustainable development topics, encouraging discussion and challenging stereotypes.
Together with the Xantus Foundation and The Museum of the Moving Image, the company is dedicated to preserving, conserving, and sharing the cultural heritage of Transylvanian filmmakers’ cinematic works for science, art, and culture. To date, more than 15,000 hours of historic footage, 827 glass plates, photo negatives, and audio tapes have been carefully restored and archived in our database.
Additionally, Xantus Film hosts workshops and educational programs in collaboration with prestigious institutions.
